Under CAAGS leadership, significant milestones include hosting major conferences and mentoring numerous African American groups aspiring to establish genealogical societies. In 1995, PBS featured CAAGS in an episode of their Ancestors Series dedicated to African American Research.
Today, CAAGS boasts a diverse membership of over 80 members, actively researching nearly every U.S. state, Africa, the Caribbean, and Europe. The organization has sponsored research tours to destinations such as Africa, Salt Lake City, and the National Archives’ regional and national branches. Members are frequently invited as presenters and speakers for local and national genealogical groups and organizations.
